Today, Focus Home Interactive and Pendulo Studio reveal the first official screenshots of "Runaway, A Twist of Fate", the third and last adventure of Brian and Gina. This last episode will indeed close the saga.
The first two Runaway episodes brought back the success of point and click adventure games in Europe and captivated nearly a million players. After a colourful second episode which took place in the islands of Hawaii, the creators of the game lead us into a more mature and urban universe for this last adventure with Brian and Gina. Following the story of the previous game, A Twist of Fate is also very much an independent game allowing players that have never played a Runaway game before to fully enjoy this brand new adventure.
For the very first time in the Runaway series, the game will allow you to control Brian as well as Gina who has an important part to play in the story.
As shown on these images, Runaway: A Twist of Fate has visually improved. Thanks to a new graphic engine, the game now has high resolution backgrounds, more detailed and expressive characters, and more realistic animations... The interface has also been improved and offers an inventory allowing you to check each item from every angle possible. You will also find an ingenious hint system that will guide you throughout difficult situations without giving away the solution to the puzzles.
Of course, both the particular visual style and the omnipresent humour that appealed to the players have been retained in order to make A Twist of Fate a rich episode, full of novelties and unexpected turns yet still faithful to the Runaway spirit.
Runaway « A Twist of Fate » is scheduled to be released in the fourth quarter of 2009 on PC and Nintendo DS™.

Very excited to see the 3rd game coming out,
I hope that the story of runaway 2 gets resolved,
and really wish that the game is not complicated by such things as 3d inventory...
One thing to remember:
Runaway is Great because, it upholds all those things we loved about "Monkey Island, Quest for Glory , Space Quest, Fate of Atlantis, etc.... "
So please GUYS don't stray too far, beautiful graphics are great and story is king! AND when you start complicating point and click with 3d it never works out aka Monkey island 4....
I'm heart broken to see the SAGA end with this episode!!! Especially because the second one was such a long and great game, i want all the questions answered, and not just with a 3 minute clip, rushing through the explanation.
Dare I say: I want the "Runaway 2.5" if not now, then Later..
Also I hope after The Runaway SAGA is over, there will be more new STORIES.
You guys must keep this Genre of games alive for us, maybe a sci fi adventure, or dare I say a pirate one.... (I'm a die hard MONKEY ISLAND FAN)
So please KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
Cheers

I played Runaway 2 on and off since it hit the stores. Just now I finished it. Its probably one of the greatest adventure games Ive played for a long time.
I had no idea the game would end with a cliffhanger like that I wish someone would have forewarned me... but still I am extremely happy to hear the story continues!
Everything is great about this game. 3D/2D combination work great. Interaction system is fine.
I only wish the puzzles were a bit more logical. Sometimes I found I had to use a walk through only to find that the solution I already tried was the correct one, only that I had done something in the wrong order or that it wouldn't work until I exited the room en entered it again. SO please, until the sequel - keep the puzzles more "reasonable". That doesn't mean dull and unimaginative thou
Monkey Islands puzzles are almost all completely bizarre, but they still make sense somehow and you usually have some idea what yo want/need to do. In runaway I sometimes felt clueless as to what I was supposed to do.
But I am 110% sure you will create a great game.
P.S. Oh, and I am really looking forward to see Gina in that tank up and close =) *giggle* |
